SAFARI BUDGET GUIDELINES

Having an estimated budget will help us plan the best possible safari for you, within a price range that you are comfortable with.

WHAT IS YOUR BUDGET?
This is perhaps the most important question.
An East African safari can cost as little as $200 per day for an overland, group participation, camping safari to well over $1000 a day per person.

Mid Range Safaris cater for the traveller who wants to experience Africa in style and comfort.
Top End Safaris cater to the seasoned traveller who desires privacy, seclusion and a true wilderness experience.

Here are some things to consider when thinking about choosing a safari that matches your budget, desired comfort level and style...

ACCOMODATION:
Large lodges are less expensive than small tented camps & lodges.
Luxury mobile-tented safaris & exclusive semi/ permanent tented camps are normally the most expensive.

TRANSPORT:
Minivan safari vehicles are the standard mode of transport used in Kenya, and are the cheapest transport option.
Land Rovers & Land Cruisers are comfortable but more expensive than minivans.
Flying safaris are more expensive than using vehicles, however they allow you to spend quality time at your destination, cutting out time-consuming driving.  Flying also allows you to explore more remote & exclusive areas, particularly in Tanzania.

Other things to consider:
Kenya is the original safari destination, with a relatively large range of lodges & camps, and hence more competitive pricing.
Tanzania is Africa’s Premier safari destination with relatively few camps & lodges in its prime wildlife locations, making it more exclusive and expensive.

Often more expensive safari lodges & camps have more experienced guides.

·  Always check what is included in the safari cost.
   ·  As a general rule, the more expensive the lodge or camp, the better the
        food, comfort and service.
   ·  Up-market camps & lodges usually include wine with dinner and sometimes
        have an open bar policy.

In summary:
Your budget will determine the types of lodges & camps you stay at, the experience & attentiveness of the staff and the mode of transport used.

In all cases, you are guaranteed a memorable experience,
with superior wildlife-viewing.
