Green turtle nest on Anjajavy Lodge’s beach, due to hatch soon!
There is a turtle nest on the main beach of Anjajavy Lodge, Madagascar. Here is their report:
“Early in may, some peculiar prints have been spotted on the main beach of the Anjajavy lodge, which drew our attention. We discovered that a green turtle (Chelonia mydas) has dug a hole and layed her eggs in this nesting spot. The incubation period lasts usually between 45 to 75 days, so the eggs might hatch from around the middle of June. As we have always done our best in term of sensibilisation of the nearby villagers, aiming to stop exploitation of endangered sea turtles, we will definitely follow up on this rare event with great concern.”
