The Itinerary

Private transfer from either Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport to your hotel. Relax & unwind ahead of your exciting safari adventure.

Accommodation: African Tulip Hotel.

Drive across the Maasai Steppe, where you’ll likely see the local Maasai people herd their goats & cattle, en-route to Tarangire National Park.

Tarangire is a semi-arid park studded with baobab trees. It is famous for its excellent birdlife, and its large elephant herds that migrate into the park during the dry season in search of water.

Enjoy stunning views down to the river from your lodge. Discover Tarangire on game drives; morning and afternoon, or full day, as you prefer.

Drive up the Great Rift Valley’s Manyara escarpment, then onward into the Ngorongoro Highlands, and up through the highland forest to your camp set on the Crater rim. Enjoy Spectacular views into the Crater as you drive along the rim. You have a full day to explore Ngorongoro Crater with an early morning descent into the Crater.

The Crater is home to a myriad of resident wildlife, including lion, hyena, cheetah, zebras, wildebeest & lone bull elephants. Critically endangered black rhino also live in the Crater.

Drive down to the plains in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Olduvai Gorge where Louis & Mary Leakey made important archaeological discoveries. Visit the small Leakey museum.

Explore the central Serengeti’s Seronera Valley, home to Big Cats including lion & leopard.

The Serengeti has abundant wildlife – herbivores include buffalo, impala, gazelle, giraffe, zebra, hippos; predators include lion, cheetah, hyena & elusive leopard, plus bat eared foxes & jackals.

Game drive from the central into the northern Serengeti. Search for the large herds of wildebeest & zebra (the Great Migration), continually migrating in search of greener pastures. If you are very lucky, you may also see the famous river crossings.

Morning in the Serengeti, then fly back to Arusha, drive to the border with Kenya (approx 1.5h) and transfer to your Kenyan safari micro-van. Continue on to Amboseli National Park (approx 2h) for your game drive & on to the Elerai Maasai Community Conservancy.

Explore Amboseli’s acacia woodland, savannas and swamps fed by underground rivers coming off Mt Kilimanjaro. Amboseli is famous for its rich & profuse wildlife. Weather permitting, you have a chance to see Mt Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest, and the world’s tallest freestanding mountain.

Staying in a Maasai community conservancy at Elerai, you are helping to protects the critical Kitenden wildlife migration corridor linking Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Forest Reserve to Kenya’s Amboseli National Park. Option to visit the local Elerai Maasai Community.

Accommodation: Satao Elerai Tented Camp.

A final morning in the Elerai Conservancy. Watch the sunrise light-up Kilimanjaro. Enjoy a relaxed morning today in camp, or go for an optional bush walk.

After lunch, depart to drive through the Kenyan countryside (approx 4-5h) to your hotel in Nairobi.
