We headed out for a late afternoon game drive whilst staying at Vumbura Plains Camp during our safari in the Okavango Delta in early May. We were searching for African Wild Dogs that had been spotted earlier in the day when we came across two lions lying on the track. It was already late in the afternoon, and we took this as a sign that the Wild Dogs had left the area to avoid the lions since they will try to kill competing predators in their territory.

We decided to take a drive just a little further down the road to see what we came across, and low and behold, there was the pack of African Wild Dogs! They were in a relaxed, playful mood whilst ambling down the track in front of us. We stayed with them as long as we could, and enjoyed a lovely sunset as we headed back to Vumbura Plains Camp.
